Our Mission 
Our mission at NY AREA is to broaden the awareness of
New Yorkers about energy issues that will increasingly affect businesses and consumers in the coming years. We will achieve this mission through education and political action, as well as by building support for energy initiatives that will sustain and enhance the economic growth of the New York region.

NY AREA is hard at work on a broad and varied agenda that includes:

• Supporting policies that will aid in the development of new, viable energy sources to meet the growing energy demands of New York.
  
• Supporting the continued operation of Indian Point Energy Center, which provides 20 to 30 percent of the electricity for New York City and the downstate region.
  
• Supporting recommendations of the New York City Energy Policy Task Force for energy solutions that support the future growth and development of New York City.

As an alternate voice in the ongoing debate about New York energy needs, NY AREA promotes the views and opinion of our diverse membership with representatives from the business, industry, labor, and community sectors throughout New York. We are experts on New York energy issues because our members and their organizations are the experts who are counting on vital energy in New York far into the future.

New Yorkers have always been at their best when we face significant challenges head-on. By developing concepts and initiatives so New York has the energy that we need to grow and prosper, the New York Affordable Reliable Electricity Alliances is dedicated to making sure that the New York metropolitan region remains the greatest place in the world to live and to do business.
